Ackerman Studios project. Artist’s Tree at 45 Park Lane, Mayfair, London. Dorchester Group.
Chosen as 2024’s designer for 45 Park Lane’s Artist's Tree.
Inspired by classic Christmas films like It’s a Wonderful Life, paired with the elegance of the Ziegfeld Follies and the allure of Hollywood’s Golden Age, I’ve crafted an array of festive decorations that capture the warmth and joy of gathering with loved ones during the holiday season. These pieces evoke the nostalgic comfort of watching timeless holiday classics such as The Wizard of Oz and Singin’ in the Rain, which have become cherished traditions.
The design features a unique black-and-white tree, delicately blending sepia tones with vintage black-and-white hues to echo the aesthetics of Hollywood’s Golden Era. These subdued tones are enhanced with touches of red—a color deeply rooted in Christmas tradition, from its association with ancient winter solstice celebrations to its popularization by Coca-Cola’s iconic depiction of Santa Claus by Haddon Sundblom.
All the tree decorations are made from paper, they are an extension of my art practice where I predominately work in the medium of collage, I like the idea of this project as my collage Christmas tree. Some have an additional finish of diamond dust, as of course “diamonds are a girl’s best friend”.
Rivans design based on the tree for the VIP’s Christmas Gift Box.
