'Hollywood Safari', Maria's flagship solo show of 2017, is on show at Lilford Gallery, Cambridge and Folkestone.
'Hollywood Safari' is an exhibition of new original works by Maria, exploring the idea of disconnection and reconnection to nature through fragments of vintage ephemera. Spinning bizarre and dreamlike tales, these exotic and escapist collages are laced with ominous undertones, coming together in 'Hollywood Safari' to remind us of the darker side of human nature.

The show was an exhibition of original works and prints, inspired by three, vintage films: Hitchcock's 'Rear Window', 'A Stolen Life' starring Bette Davis, and a number of the 1930s 'Tarzan' series. Staging a collage within a collage, the exhibition deconstructed and reassembled stills from the iconic films across the entire collection.
